Ode To Dad...Because there are things he needs to know

I don't know what I would do without my dad. I don't think he realized that when he married me away to Grant, he didn't actually get rid of me. Grant is a great husband, father and person. Not to put him down but there are things in life that he doesn't know or can't take care of yet and I still need to call my dad to come rescue me. I don't know if he realizes how amazingly wonderful he really is.

I have been a daddy's girl all my life. We had our time in the past where we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things and I was being a typical rebellious teenager, but I still got along with my mom just fine, try to figure that one out. When I grew up and out of being such a poo head of a teenage daughter, me and my dad got along again.

There have been things that have come up in my life over the years that I have needed to call my daddy for help, and he ALWAYS comes.

I don't know if my dad realizes what an impact he has made on me and I want him and everyone else to know. There are things that he has taught me over the years that have stuck and I want him to know how much of an impact the little things have made.

I recently went to the lake with my mom and sister and there are so many times that I thought of my dad while there and even before I left to go. I made sure to have Grant get an oil change done on the truck to make sure everything is good on that end and all my fluids are topped up. I also debated on not getting gas because I had half a tank but I did anyways because what if I didn't have enough, thanks dad for teaching me its easier to keep the top half full than the bottom half. I always have that on my mind. I always make sure me and the kids have proper clothing in the truck just in case something happened. I always thought my dad was being overcautious but its better to be prepared for the worst.

When I "broke" his truck I thought he would be furious with me, little did I know he knew that it happened before he even got home. I made sure to hand him my income tax return money and promised I would pay for the damages, hoping I wouldn't get in trouble. Little did I know that after he found out I thought he was going to be furious with me, he got really upset about it. All my dad was concerned about was if I was ok. Well dad, I was ok knowing that that was the most important thing to you!

I bought a trailer thinking it was the best idea in the world. My dad asked me if I was sure, nope I wasn't but I did it anyway. I can't count how many times he has had to come save me from the sticky situations I have gotten myself in. He had expected to have to come help me park it after the first camping trip but I was lucky enough to be able to figure it out. But now that we moved it has become a little tricky. I called him today because I couldn't get it parked, not that I couldn't but the snow rutts in the back alley won't let me. While trying to pull it out of the alley and around the corner I almost hit a truck and couldn't figure out what to do. Sure enough I call my dad and start crying and he came to my rescue, even though I discovered I didn't need him. He still came!

There are many, many times that I have felt the need to call my dad to come help me and sure enough he has always come through. I know that if I needed him to he would jump through firery hoops for me and my family to make sure that I am safe and taken care of. There are many, many things my dad has taught me that have stuck and I'm sure he doesn't even realize. There are major life lessons that he has instilled in me that I have already started passing down to my children.

Thank you dad for always being there for me when I need you the most. Thank you for teaching me the most important life lessons that I needed to know and continuing to do so. Thank you for making sure I am safe and taken care of. Thank you for being the most wonderful, amazing, incredible, thoughtful, generous dad that you are to me. You have no idea how much I love you and how much you mean to me.You have taught me how to be independent, strong, strong minded and strong willed, confident, and secure. You have taught me how I should be treated and how to treat others. Don't break the spirit, right?! There are a lot of dadisms that we use around here that we kind of make fun of but are actually using because they are truly useful. I can't wait until my kids get older and I can say "I don't hear the cling clang of the dishes getting done". I already use "Do you want me to give you something to cry about".

Dad you have made an incredible impact on my life and I hope you continue to do so for a very long time because I don't know what I would do without you. I Love You Daddy!
