Disconnected

How does a person become disconnected from another I wonder. Through your life you have these people in it that are your "friends". Are they actually? Sometimes you have to sit back and seriously wonder, are they there for my benefit, their own benefit, or maybe a bit of both.

Do you ever wonder what a true friendship actually is or should be?

Up until this point in my life I always thought I had a few friends at each and every time in my life, some that I thought were awesome, some not so much. I always referred to one person as a best friend until I became older and it didn't really matter anymore. Well maybe "best" meant something different as I got older and understood what it should really mean. Up until this point in my life I always thought of being a best friend, a good friend or a friend in general meant something else.

"Friends come and go but family is for life." - That's the quote right? When I was little, I never really believed this quote. I never thought this really meant anything. And holy man was I wrong. I'm not saying that I lost a really good friend or anything and that I am sad, because I am not. I just wonder why on earth friends just slowly disappear.

I have had friends that have moved away and we lost touch because we weren't old enough to know the difference. I have had friends who moved away and we stayed in contact but as we grew up we unfortunately grew apart. We had different things going on in our lives and we were at different stages. I have had friends that come and go and come again. I have had friends that I wanted to stay but it wasn't meant to be. I have had friends who I don't have time for. I am rambling on......

What is a true friend... There are some people that I truly miss. There are some I don't care that even left. A couple that I don't even understand why we don't talk anymore, it makes me wonder if I did something wrong?! Who knows. But the one true Best friend I have who taught me what a best friend should be....Grant.

Grant taught me that you should be able to tell someone anything in the whole world and never get judged. Who will love you no matter what you do or say. Someone you can be completely silly around and they think you are funny or ridiculous. A friend is supposed to support you in everything you do in life even when you are wrong. Love you for who you are, even when you change. Grant taught me to be the best that I can be, even if sometimes its terrible. He taught me to love unconditionally and passionately. Grant taught me what a best friend should be. (Hehe, I just rhymed)

Ode To Dad...Because there are things he needs to know

I don't know what I would do without my dad. I don't think he realized that when he married me away to Grant, he didn't actually get rid of me. Grant is a great husband, father and person. Not to put him down but there are things in life that he doesn't know or can't take care of yet and I still need to call my dad to come rescue me. I don't know if he realizes how amazingly wonderful he really is.

I have been a daddy's girl all my life. We had our time in the past where we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things and I was being a typical rebellious teenager, but I still got along with my mom just fine, try to figure that one out. When I grew up and out of being such a poo head of a teenage daughter, me and my dad got along again.

There have been things that have come up in my life over the years that I have needed to call my daddy for help, and he ALWAYS comes.

I don't know if my dad realizes what an impact he has made on me and I want him and everyone else to know. There are things that he has taught me over the years that have stuck and I want him to know how much of an impact the little things have made.

I recently went to the lake with my mom and sister and there are so many times that I thought of my dad while there and even before I left to go. I made sure to have Grant get an oil change done on the truck to make sure everything is good on that end and all my fluids are topped up. I also debated on not getting gas because I had half a tank but I did anyways because what if I didn't have enough, thanks dad for teaching me its easier to keep the top half full than the bottom half. I always have that on my mind. I always make sure me and the kids have proper clothing in the truck just in case something happened. I always thought my dad was being overcautious but its better to be prepared for the worst.

When I "broke" his truck I thought he would be furious with me, little did I know he knew that it happened before he even got home. I made sure to hand him my income tax return money and promised I would pay for the damages, hoping I wouldn't get in trouble. Little did I know that after he found out I thought he was going to be furious with me, he got really upset about it. All my dad was concerned about was if I was ok. Well dad, I was ok knowing that that was the most important thing to you!

I bought a trailer thinking it was the best idea in the world. My dad asked me if I was sure, nope I wasn't but I did it anyway. I can't count how many times he has had to come save me from the sticky situations I have gotten myself in. He had expected to have to come help me park it after the first camping trip but I was lucky enough to be able to figure it out. But now that we moved it has become a little tricky. I called him today because I couldn't get it parked, not that I couldn't but the snow rutts in the back alley won't let me. While trying to pull it out of the alley and around the corner I almost hit a truck and couldn't figure out what to do. Sure enough I call my dad and start crying and he came to my rescue, even though I discovered I didn't need him. He still came!

There are many, many times that I have felt the need to call my dad to come help me and sure enough he has always come through. I know that if I needed him to he would jump through firery hoops for me and my family to make sure that I am safe and taken care of. There are many, many things my dad has taught me that have stuck and I'm sure he doesn't even realize. There are major life lessons that he has instilled in me that I have already started passing down to my children.

Thank you dad for always being there for me when I need you the most. Thank you for teaching me the most important life lessons that I needed to know and continuing to do so. Thank you for making sure I am safe and taken care of. Thank you for being the most wonderful, amazing, incredible, thoughtful, generous dad that you are to me. You have no idea how much I love you and how much you mean to me.You have taught me how to be independent, strong, strong minded and strong willed, confident, and secure. You have taught me how I should be treated and how to treat others. Don't break the spirit, right?! There are a lot of dadisms that we use around here that we kind of make fun of but are actually using because they are truly useful. I can't wait until my kids get older and I can say "I don't hear the cling clang of the dishes getting done". I already use "Do you want me to give you something to cry about".

Dad you have made an incredible impact on my life and I hope you continue to do so for a very long time because I don't know what I would do without you. I Love You Daddy!

Valentine's Day

8 Years I have got to spend with the wonderful man I have in my life and this year he decided to spoil me! He surprised me by coming home early and sent me out the door to go shopping. My sister and my mom picked me up shortly after he arrived home. So we were off to the market mall. Right before I left though, he surprised me with earrings, some that I have wanted for a very long time because I can only wear real gold. I know, I know, I'm a very expensive wife but its not my fault!
 My new earrings!

When I arrived home after some shopping and wine, Grant had started making me a home cooked dinner! He never cooks so this was a huge surprise and a yummy one too!

 Grant at work!
The final Result! Home made marinara sauce on fresh pasta with Chicken Parmesan and Caesar salad!

Blogger

So I haven't fully kept up with my one and I think only news years resolution, who knew. I was going to try and write on my blog at least once a week and I think I've only done 2 posts since the new year...well here's another.

I wonder who checks my blog when I don't post a link on my facebook. I for one, check my sisters blog on almost a daily basis. I love to see the new pictures she has taken and see what her little family is up to. Some times thats how I know they did something or went somewhere. That kind of sounds terrible but its little things, like when they got their crib and how they spent their new years eve, just to name a couple.

Just like this blog, there is another thing I was thinking about when the future comes. When the years have gone by and my kids are all growed up, I can look back on my blog and read about how my family and I spent our days. There is another way, that I was thinking might be kind of cool:

I joined facebook in 2007. Right before Austin was born I believe. Very shortly after I was married and my life was just really starting its next chapter. How neat is it that when my kids are older (old enough to join facebook), they can go on to my page and go way back to when they were first born. They are able to read statuses from when they were little, what I was thinking or how I was feeling that day. Its kind of weird to think that they might come across that one day. They may even find something that they don't like or will hurt their feelings because I was stressed out one day and wrote something like "I can't wait until this day is over" (not sure if I actually wrote that or not). Not very long ago I read a note that someone had posted to their sister. This person wrote it before their sister was even old enough to be on facebook. But then, when she felt it was the right time, she showed her sister something that she wrote to her a long time ago. Its just kind of neat. So a few words of advice, Be graceful with what your words are on facebook, you never know who is going to read them!!
